At the start of World War 1, hardworking young attorney Christoph Richter moves to his hometown of Pittsburgh after living in Boston for the past 11 years. The United States is not yet involved in the war, and Christoph is able to focus on his career without distraction. Unexpectedly, Christoph develops an interest in beautiful, intelligent Liesl Albrecht, which is challenged by her romantic attachment to his childhood rival, self-serving and successful Karl Mueller. Once Christoph is assigned work on a corporate acquisition, his questioning and curious nature reveal a dark mystery that engulfs him, and his life plan begins to quickly unravel. As Christoph battles his desire for a woman he cannot have, he reluctantly solicits Liesl’s help to unwrap a series of clues to uncover the truth and expose the work of an unknown villain. In the historical backdrop of industrial Pittsburgh, Christoph and Liesl’s lives intertwine through mystery, murder, and romantic desire. Yet, with the mystery solved, they are left with unanswered questions that threaten both their future safety and happiness.
